Africa Food for Thought

By donating your BDpoints to Africa Food for Thought, you will be helping to feed 2450 hungry children...

  Who are we?
Africa Food for Thought (AFFT) is a non-profit, voluntary association that is involved in food distribution, feeding programmes and poverty relief.  Most of our feeding programmes are aimed at schools, particularly primary schools serving informal settlements.  Often the meal these children receive at school is their only meal of the day.

Who do we feed?
We work almost entirely with schools, providing the necessary equipment and food to feed 2450 children with vegetable soup with soya supplements, bread and additional foods two to four times a week; those children fed are those identified by the schools as the neediest; in some cases, the entire school is fed.

  Our projects include:
Thembile Primary School
– Approximately 600 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are fed hot soup and bread, three times a week.

Durban Deep Primary School
– 950 scholars are fed once a week.
– Most live in the informal settlements of Matholiesville, Princess, Mohlangeni and Durban Deep.
